Village Board Hires New Clerk

Dorchester has a new village clerk and treasurer.

The news comes after last month's village board meeting held on Feb. 16, when board members spent about two hours in a closed session interviewing candidates for the vacant position. After interviewing the applicants, the board voted unanimously to hire Dorchester native Robin Schweitzer for the village clerk/treasurer position.

In other news from the monthly meeting, board members were updated on the village sewer project and voted to purchase two new mowers.

  1. Any word on street repair.

All this "new blood" should lead to new and better streets.

  2. I note sarcasm in the comment above ... but then again maybe its just a lot of bitterness looking for a target. Let us know either way, will you?

  10. I hate to keep commenting on the street subject... but... why would we pay to have the streets paved if everything Underneath the streets need to be replaced or updated?

Dorchester was able to receive a grant for the sewer project. If we paved the roads and a grant for storm sewer was available then we would be tearing them up again.

I feel the Towns board members are doing the best they can with what they have.. If you would like to help and be proactive then start showing up to the Village meetings.

  12. to the person wondering what is under the streets.

This project was completed a few years ago for around 500,000

The sewer and water system is in good condition.

Quit using that as and excuse and get er done.

  14. Dorchester should actively recruit more young people to the town, like those who are under 35 or so. I think it would do wonders to bring some more positive can-do sprit to the town and less selfishness. My boyfriend and I are two people who are both thinking about living in Dorchester for the long term after we get married but we would like some other young couples to do the same. I think it can happen with a little encoragement

  15. I was just wondering what $500,000 would get done. I have a feeling not alot these days probably even less if your digging up sewer lines.
