As a member of the Shooting Stars squad, the Dorchester freshman is joining the ranks of some of the state's top up-and-coming basketball players.
In addition to Behrens, the Shooting Stars Regional 15-under team roster includes: Payton Everett, Malcolm; Lauren Pfeiffer, Omaha Concordia; Jessica Taylor, Norris; Delaney Higgins, Kassi Nauman, C.B. Lewis Central; Paola Mwenentanda, Lincoln Southwest; Shelby Hemman, Amherst; Whitney Willcuts, Valentine; and Amanda Novacek, David City Aquinas.
We at the Times tip our Longhorn hat to Meredith and send our congratulations for her selection to this elite team of athletes.
Nice going, Meredith!!! Work hard and be all you can now so you don't have to try to relive you glory years like some of the alumni basketball players.
ReplyDeleteVery proud of you, keep up the good work.

DHS should be ranked pre-season top 10 next year. Get the state tourney t-shirts ready.
ReplyDeleteIt's this type of effort and dedication that develops the players to play at a higher level than most.
ReplyDeleteI would hope more girls would be interested in following Meredith's steps to develop their skills.
I hope the people in the crowd remember and respect the dedication the Behrens family show in their efforts. They should be applauded.
Good luck Meredith. Your hard work will pay off ---- enjoy the ride!!
Congratulations to Meredith, now the next step is to remember one person does not make a team. Both the Coach and Meredith need to work with the other girls to bring out the best in all of them. Meredith has the leadership capabilities to do this. If not, not even Meredith will make the TEAM the best they can be.
ReplyDeleteGo Horns. I think that freshman class has some real future stars.
ReplyDeleteOne person does not make the team. Everyone should be proud of the TEAM. How do you think the other teammates feel?
ReplyDeleteIt never fails. Someone always has to be negative. The community is proud of EVERYONE on the Team!!!

Anonymous (two above) is also a member of the Socialist Party. No keeping score next year. Everyone is a winner. Also you must all wear your hair the same way and the same shoes as provided by the state. No one should stand out. No one should work to improve herself as a player.
ReplyDeleteIgnore the whiners, Meredith and all the other great players on the Dorchester team. Just work on getting better at basketball and life. You can learn a lot from the negative people around you. They are everywhere in the world. Learn to deal with them now while you're young.
negative people only want to bring you down to their level...we are all proud of "all" the girls. its nice to see girls and boys wanting to better themselves for the sake of their teams. keep up the good work and you will take your teams a long ways in all you do.
ReplyDeleteGood Job Meredith!
ReplyDeleteThe community is proud! But dont forget you have team behind you to. It takes a whole team to make a game, but just not one. Congradulations!
