Living In The Heart Of Thunderstorm Alley
(UPDATE: As of 6 p.m. Thursday, Dorchester had received 2.25" of precipitation in town.)
Southeast and south central Nebraska, including Saline County, is in a holding pattern of humid, turbulent weather that is ripe for stirring severe weather.
And it doesn't appear the pattern will break anytime too soon.
The latest forecast from Accuweather for the Dorchester area is as follows:
Thursday afternoon: A strong t-storm in spots; storms may bring downpours, large hail and damaging winds. Chance of storms is 95%.
Thursday night and Friday early morning: A severe thunderstorm; storms may bring downpours, large hail, damaging winds, and a tornado. Chance of thunderstorms 100%.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports: "Pinning down the exact details is difficult, but forecasters say storms in the Lincoln area are likely to develop after 1 p.m. and the severe weather threat extends overnight. The chance of rain continues Friday and Saturday."
