The Dorchester area is in a winter weather advisory. Here's the latest advisory issued by the National Weather Service:
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM CST SUNDAY...
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 10 AM CST SUNDAY...
* TIMING...LIGHT SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL BEGIN THIS EVENING. THE SNOW SHOULD END BY DAYBREAK SUNDAY.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ONE TO TWO INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED.
* WINDS...NORTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH.
* WIND CHILL VALUES...20 TO 25 BELOW ZERO.
* IMPACTS...THE PRIMARY IMPACT FOR THIS ADVISORY IS THE
COMBINATION OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...STRONG WINDS AND
DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS. TRAVEL MAY BE AFFECTED.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT
VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW
AROUND. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS. IN
ADDITION...DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT AND
INTO SUNDAY MORNING. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...TAKE THE
PROPER PRECAUTIONS AND MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN
FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND
GLOVES.
