As reported earlier, the Dorchester Community Foundation is raising funds to finalize the town's new welcome signs. These signs will feature the community's new logo, which will also be on the village's new water tower -- to be completed yet this year or early 2013.
The
concrete and brick welcome signs will be rather substantial in size, measuring 8' tall (pillars) and 20'
wide. They will stand on an elevated
landing measuring 6' by 24'. Plans are
to have them lighted, as well.
The Dorchester
Community Foundation needs your help now to raise approximately
$16,000 to complete this important project that reflects our community
pride. Contact friends, family, DHS alumni and Dorchester natives all over the country and encourage them to donate $25, $50, $100 -- whatever they can afford.
You can contribute to this project by making checks payable to Dorchester
Community Foundation Fund.

ReplyDeleteI would like to take this opprotunity to "THANK" all the people who have sent in donations. From $20.00 to $2,500.00 -- we are getting there and will have enough to start one sign ASAP and hopefully be able to get the second one going. There are so many good causes that need money so that makes the Foundation even more grateful. When the water tower is completed this spring and the signs are up, it will be a wonderful welcome to Dorchester. Thank you all very much for you generousity. Glad to call Dorchester home and to call all of you friends!
many families need to try & help pay for that watertower before we need signs for Dorchester.
ReplyDeleteDo we really need 8' x 20' signs for a town of 600 people. Really? Can't we put some of that money into more important things. Sorry but I am not donating my money. I have to pay my taxes first.
