Reminder: Jan. 22 Soup Supper and Raffle To Benefit Fisher Family

Plan now to attend this Friday's (Jan. 22) soup supper fundraiser at Dorchester Public Schools, as school leaders seek to help raise money for the Fischer family during the upcoming DHS-McCool Junction boys and girls basketball game.

The soup supper and a coinciding raffle are a joint effort of both Dorchester and McCool Junction schools. Money raised from the event will go towards medical expenses accrued by 13-year-old Gabe Fisher's battle with cancer.

The event will start at 5 p.m. and continue as long as hungry patrons are waiting.

Gabe's mother, Diane, is a faculty member at DPS. See a recent York News-Times story on Gabe -- who was diagnosed this fall with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma -- by clicking here. Everyone from the area community is encouraged to attend Friday's event at Dorchester Public Schools.

  1. If we cannot make it to mccool, where can we donate money to the family. Could someone find that out.

  4. The Jan. 22 Basketball game is at Dorchester but if you are unable to attend you can send or drop off your donation at the Dorchester School office. Thrivent is going to match the dollars raised up to 20 00.00. Diane just found out today that Gabe will have to have extended chemo treaments. We hope you can attend but if not, donations will be appreciated. Thanks!

  6. There have been many time I've been proud of our Dorchester Community and School but the "Fisher Night" ON Friday ranks right at the top. Words can't even begin to discribe the pride I felt to see Dorchester and McCool come together to work/contribute to ensure a very special evening for a very special family. I can't begin to list all the people who contributed to the efforts but it was HUGE. The community of Crete also helped us tremendously. THANKS TO ALL who helped us make this event a success. We'll be giving more details on the outcome next week. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE!!!!

  7. Great win by both Longhorn teams on Friday night! Wow, what a thriller the boys game was, even though they had much more talent, McCool scraped back into the game and nearly one.

They only disappointing thing was to see a McCool fan throw objects at the refs. C'mon, is that necessary. I would have confronted that good ol' boy personally had I been wearing the zebra stripes. Guess thats why I don't want to be a ref.
