NEWS ROUND-UP: Fall Sports Conclude, Special Village Board Meeting

DHS Fall Sports Season Concludes: The DHS volleyball season came to a close earlier this week when the Lady Longhorns fell in their second contest of subdistricts, losing to 26-4 Meridian in three straight sets. Dorchester finished 15-13 on the year. Meanwhile, the DHS football team concluded their 2-6 season on Oct. 21, falling to Pawnee City by a score of 20-50. Soon basketball and wrestling seasons will be underway.

Dorchester Village Board to Hold Special Meeting: The Dorchester village board is set to hold a special meeting Thursday, Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at the Community Hall. According to sources, this meeting will address a rental property in Dorchester, owned by an out-of-town company, and alleged zoning violations. The public is welcome to attend.

Dorchester Legion Bar and Grill Open Halloween Night: Get ready -- the real spooks are coming out this Halloween evening, Monday, Oct. 31. That's when the Dorchester American Legion Bar and Grill will be open, starting at 5 p.m. Free hot dogs, snacks, and treats for the kids begin at 6 p.m. The Sons of the American Legion will be cooking ribeye sandwiches until they are gone -- and spooktacular drink specials.

Jr. Auxiliary Going Door to Door Saturday: Dorchester's Junior Auxiliary members will be going door to door collecting money for veterans this Saturday, Oct. 29.
