The Associated Press has reported on yesterday's fire seven miles south of Dorchester.
The blaze drew nearly five dozen firefighters from four fire departments, including Dorchester Volunteer Fire Dept.
It took firefighters more than five hours to put out a blaze that blackened
nearly 50 acres.
The blaze started Monday afternoon. Dorchester Fire Chief Todd Axline said a bearing overheated on a
hay baler, igniting the fire. Farmers helped fight the fire by disking around the
perimeter to keep it from spreading.
Two firefighters were taken to Crete Area Medical Center
for treatment and soon were released. No damage to buildings was reported.
