DHS Sports Preview, Time Capsule Dedication Set For Aug. 28

The fall sports season is almost here. That is good news for Longhorn fans. To whet the appetites of DHS fans, the annual Dorchester Fall Sports Preview will be held Friday, Aug. 28. Several events are planned for the evening, beginning with the insertion of the time capsule into the school bell monument at 5:30 p.m.

According to Dorchester Activities Director Scott Pohl, plans are also being made for a possible "name it-claim it" event that will enable school district patrons to purchase school equipment that is no longer being used.

The 2009 volleyball team will be presented to the public at 6:30 p.m. and may include an intra-squad scrimmage. The DHS Booster Club will be accepting members for the 2009-2010 school year, as well as selling hamburger meals from the outdoor concession stand beginning at 7:15 p.m.

The presentation and scrimmage of the 2009 Longhorn football team will take place at approximately 7:30 p.m.

  1. The ladies will go undefeated in their first 10 matches and be rated in the class d-1 top ten I predict. The boys will be much improved and will surprise many in the high school sports world thanks to the coaching talents at Dorchester.

    GO HORNS.

  2. Its nice to see coaches who care in the current positions ... not that previous coaches didnt care but the coaches we have now go that extra effort and the players respond. Players, remember you are playing for your school and your fellow teammates at all times. Represent your school and community well. Dorchester is watching.

  3. such a one sided comment, and a blast to all coaches and athletes who have ever coached or played in Dorchester.

My kids went to school in Dorchester in the late eighties and i dont think there was ever a coach or player who didnt want to win, and put out extra effort.

If wins and losses are what we are looking at, the last 5 years havent been the best.

quit printing just the "pats on the back" if you are going to let people comment on the past.
