DHS Activities Director Scott Pohl is requesting that team captains submit team information by March 6.
Information that should be submitted includes: player's name; shirt number; shirt size; and year of graduation. Cost is $25 per player.
As in past years, there will be a D-Club sponsored concession stand available serving snacks and drinks, we are told. For more information, call AD Pohl at (402) 946-2781.
Even if you arent wearing a jersey and playing on a team, its still great to attend and catch up with DHS Alum! I encourage all former Horns to attent
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered why there hasn't been a school or community group sponsored meal during the tournament. It seems that this would be a good fundraising event and provide yet another chance for people to get together.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Theres so much opportunity to make lots more money for the students and the school.
ReplyDeleteOr funds for the church, foundation, association, baseball, etc.
ReplyDelete(Maybe it could go to paving:)
whats one meal going to pave?
ReplyDeleteget a clue
In my opinion, maybe there hasn't been concessions or a meal because it might be taking away from the bar or even the grocery store after the different games.
ReplyDeleteWhen the games are over, most of the teams goes down to the bar and meets for drinks and hopefully food, too. If they don't want to eat bar food, maybe they could go to the grocery store for a sandwich, bag of chips, and a pop. I am all for making money for different organizations, but shouldn't we support our locals downtown also?
Wow anonymous FEB 6, I guess that I will have to illustrate the use of sarcasm for your sake.
ReplyDeleteSARCASM ON: Maybe it could go to paving:). SARCASM OFF
(The point is that the money can be used for any type of fundraiser. And since everyone is clamoring about paving but is against paying for it, I made that suggestion in jest.)
And to anonymous FEB 7: Unlike some folks in D-town I refuse to take my kids into a smoke-filled bar for their meal. I also don't want to simply sit in my car and try to eat a meal with my family while in town for the tournament. I'm just looking for different options, ones that will keep me from driving elsewhere.
The grocery store should advertize sub-sandwich specials at the tournament.
ReplyDeleteI would stop in each day.
The latest plans that I'm aware of are a soup supper at the Community Building on Saturday March 21, with funds going to the Pfc. Charles Havlat Memorial. Cheryl's reportedly will not have the kitchen open that night, but will be having music.
ReplyDeleteAs for Friday night - don't know of anything other than Basketball.
