DSIP To Hold Round Table Wednesday Night

On Wednesday, Sept. 5, members of the Dorchester School Improvement Project (DSIP) Committee will hold a round table discussion with the Dorchester Board of Education.

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Dorchester Methodist Church and will likely be the last opportunity for voters to ask questions prior to the bond vote next week.

Last week's DSIP Bar-B-Que and presentation on the proposed school renovation drew more than 200 district voters. Many tours of the school were given, and approximately 140 district patrons attended the presentation in the school gym.

  1. good to see that the folks on the DSIP committee are trying their best to answer questions. As someone who was undecided on this issue until a couple of weeks ago, I appreciate their efforts. Thank you DSIP members.

  2. I thought the article in the crete news, about who was for the school, whoever did this hurt alot of peoples feelings, their are alot of names that would of like to been on there, some people cannot make the meetings and are still for the school. You should of thought more about this before printing it. Iam for the school, but I for one will be glad when it is over.

  4. How about a roundtable on the illegal alien celebrations taking place at the community center on the weekends? On Sunday I saw all out of county and out of state license plates along with stumbling drunks outside the community center. Is this worth $50 in rental fees for the building? Where is the revenue from the fees going? Will anyone run for the village board on a promise to end this nutty practice? Stop the insanity! At least charge $200 so the city can repair the damage done inside and outside the building. With all these city sanctioned parties that take place on the community hall, I figure we can have a new building in about 5 years if we charge fair fees. That is the people's building, not the village board's. Just because the federal government won't stop illegal immigration doesn't mean individual communities have to live with it. Stop encouraging the illegal invasion.

  6. For the same reason that it has been documented that at least 25%-33% of Crete's population is illegal. What does it take to get people outraged. It's like watching the septic tank back up and nobody cares enough to do anything about it. Sooner or later, it spills over the top and stinks up the whole place. Again I will voter FOR ANYONE who promises to do something about the illegal alien invasion including at the local level.

  9. Dear Anonymous (Sept. 5@9:40pm),

We certainly wished we would have had your name for the Crete News ad. A great deal of effort was put forth by the DSIP members to gather names for the ad. We did the best we could to get as many names as possible, short of going door to door, as that may have offended many more. We asked at public meetings and in private conversations if people were willing to have their name in print as a supporter.

This was not intended to be an all inclusive list of supporters and no one was intentionally left out. Thank you for your support and we welcome any Dorchester Times reader who supports the school building project to make a simple statement and sign your name on the blog. This will continue to reach the community as the Crete News ad did. Vote on Sept. 11th.

  10. I wouldnt worry much about hurt feelings............ Im thinking that the anonymous person above is the same one who is whining about how unfair things are because the majority of people support the new school....... not to mention that DSIP held their meetings at 7 am, 6 pm, 7 pm and later ......... if you couldnt make one of those you must not care all that much........
