DHS Alum Kelly Vyhnalek Graduates From UNO

Dorchester alumnus Kelly Vyhnalek earlier this month received his bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha, according to a UNO news release.

Vyhnalek is a 1989 graduate of DHS and a Navy veteran.

More than 500 UNO students received degrees on Aug. 10. Vyhnalek attended UNO's college of public affairs and community service. A celebration ceremony was held at the Dorchester Community Building on Aug. 18.

We at the Times salute Kelly on his successful pursuit of higher education.

  3. Dorchester should be very proud of Patrick and Kelly Vyhnalek. They were great kids growing up (very well mannered); they were good athletes; they served their country proud; they were Presidential Guards for George H.W. Bush and now received their college degrees. Those two worked hard and saw it all the way through. I know both of them very well and they are very proud to have been raised in Dorchester and they love their home town very much. Patrick finished his degree while raising two small children and one on the way. (With the help of his beautiful wife I'm sure.)

  4. Congrats to both these grads and all the others that take the long way. I, myself was on the 17 year plan. It isn't easy to work, and take classes. I encourage anyone to go while you're going, it only gets harder. Students take this advice, you won't regret it! Get the four year degree along with any tech school, it's worth it in the long run!
