Dorchester Is Hosting Another COVID Cruise Night This Saturday

Dorchester is planning another one of its famous "COVID Cruise Nights" this Saturday on main street from 5 p.m. until who knows when.

Both Dorchester restaurants will be open for dining in or take out -- East Side Bar and Grill's phone is 402-946-2007, City Slickers Bar and Grill's phone is 402-946-2171.

It was a year ago this month, April 4, 2020 -- during the worst part of the COVID-19 pandemic -- that Dorchester held its first COVID Cruise Night. It's estimated more than 150 vehicles were in town that evening.

Spearheaded by Dorchester business owner and town advocate Greg Tyser, the cruise night gave both drivers and onlookers a chance to forget about the China virus for just a few hours. Not only were area residents able to show off their sweet rides, but both Dorchester restaurants had curbside specials, adding a much-needed boost to their business activity after a month of COVID-19 precaution and paranoia.

  1. What about climate justice and all the man made pollutants you’re spewing into mother earths atmosphere. My teachers and I are so disappointed by this use of fossil fuel

  2. "China virus" is xenophobic and calling COVID-19 thus reflects poorly on a community media outlet.

    2. It is only xenophobic if you interpret it that way. The phrase "China virus" by itself is quite harmless and only indicates where the virus originated and says nothing negative about the people of China. I believe those who call other people "xenophobic" are actually the true xenophobes as they are clearly interpreting a harmless phrase in a negative way about people from another country. In this case, I am pretty sure you must be struggling with people from China. I am sorry for you.

    3. I've noticed a pattern where people who call the China virus xenophobic are usually the same people who say voter id is racist because African Americans can't use the internet or don't know how. Remember its only xenophobic when you do it. It's only pollution when you do it. This person needs out of their safe zone.

  3. I driven by the school many times and never have witnessed a non polluting vehicle there. Sounds like your wasting fossil fuels coming to work please stay home and save fuel and maybe some young minds.
