DACF Steak Feed & Fundraiser This Saturday

This Saturday evening, March 6, the Dorchester Area Community Foundation (DACF) is again hosting its Steak and Hamburger Feed. The event will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Dorchester Legion and Community Building. Those attending will be treated to a delicious 12 oz. rib eye steak for $12. The meal will include a dinner salad, baked potato, dessert, and beverage. The Legion bar will be open also. This event was a hit last year, with nearly 200 served. For smaller appetites, a hamburger meal is also available.

With the recent completion of the Charley Havlat Memorial marker, located on the grounds of the Saline County Museum, will use the proceeds from Saturday's steak feed for their next project -- a permanent "welcome" sign place along the highways coming into town. The Dorchester City Park shelter was the first project spearheaded by DACF. Those interested in serving on the DACF Welcome Sign Committee should contact Dale Hayek at (402) 641-4075.

Plan on joining your friends and neighbors from all around the area and help us "welcome" everyone to Dorchester.

we have spent alot of money on monuments and park shelters when we should have been spending it on real time problems. The streets

  3. If we don't continue to improve the community you could have paved streets to nowhere . . . so let's support all our community improvements.

I agree paved streets would be nice, but even some road maintenance, cleaning the ditches, pulling the road back up to a crown so the moisture runs to the sides would be a far cry better than what we've got now. The old Lover's Lane, believe it's now 12th street,OMG! A better question to ask at of the employees at City Council next month is "what do you guys do with your time?"

  4. Paving the streets is not a function of a Foundation. That responsibility lies with the Village Board. If you want to see changes let them know, right now several of them don't even believe residents want paving; plus they aren't holding their employees accountable to keep maintained what's there now; so, start knocking on their doors & calling their phones.

  5. you people need something else to crab about, the town people are doing all the can, is what happens this time of year. Get real and get over the roads, it has been this way for many years, the roads dry out and life is normal, the roads people are doing all they can, if you dont think they are, I would like to see some of you try to work the roads, then maybe you would know what it is like to maintain them, some of you dont have any idea what you are talking about. Find something else to crab about, life will go on, just get use to it.

  6. I agree with anonymous on March 5

the city employees have a lot of responsibilites for two people to handle.

They do the electric, sewer, water and other things that go on in the city.

and, i thought that the blog didnt allow comments directed to individuals. With only two people on the maintanance crew it is obvious that everyone knows who is being criticised.

if it is not ok to let everyone take cheap shots, then no one should be able to.

  8. come on people if we really want Dorchester to grow clean the town up. What I hear from people is not paved streets but getting rid of junk everywhere. We have nothing to offer young people. Finally some of the East side of main street looks good thanks to Ben's but we could use some work on the north end of the block. Every board members wanting elected is going to do so much then when we trust them to do their job, wrong ansewer clean house and I do mean city building first.
