Longhorn Wrestlers Ranked No. 10 In Nebraska

More congratulations are in order for the grapplers of DHS.

According to the latest Lincoln Journal Star rankings for Class D wrestling teams, Dorchester has moved into the state's top 10. DHS is ranked No. 10, while Amherst, Palmer and Howells maintain the top three spots. Meanwhile, neighboring Friend is No. 7 and nearby Sutton is No. 8.

As for individual wrestlers, in the 119 lb. category, DHS' Jeremy Inderlied is ranked as the No. 6 wrestler in Class D. Senior Adam Kahle is No. 4 in the 145 lb. weight class and veteran grappler Russell Barak is No. 4 in the 189 lb. class.

Thanks to loyal reader "CJ" for sending this our way. As he said in his e-mail, DHS has a wrestling program to be reckoned with. Now the rest of the state has been put on notice.

  7. The 79 team was very good but the 81 team had our first state champ, Mike Williams and 2 other medalists to go with a 7th place finish at the state tournament. Hopefully this team can send 7 or more wrestlers to state like that team did and finish even higher. The potential is definitely there, good luck guys.

  8. The 80-81 team sent 7 to state and placed 7th. That would have to be a contender for one of the best Longhorn wrestling teams.

  9. Back in the late 70 or early 80 more kids went out fore sports now they sit by the internet because they are lazzy and there parents dont care. The best students came from country schools grades or athletic. The team sizes are getting small and in 15 years there will be no sports at small schools.
